Dahi Vada - Curd Vadi North Indian Style..........

Ingredients :

For Vada :
  1. Urad dal - 1 /2 cup
  2. Rice flour - 2 tbsp
  3. Salt to taste
For Dahi :
  1. Thick curd - 1 cup 
  2. Green Chutney  - 1/4 cup
  3. Sweet Chaat Chutney - 1/4 cup
  4. Plain Sev -  1/4 cup
  5. Onion - 1 
  6. Carrot - 1 
  7. Roasted Jeera powder - 1/2 tsp
  8. Red chilly powder - 1/2 tsp
  9. Chaat masala - 1/2 tsp
  10. Few Coriander leaves 

Method :

  1. Rinse whole urad dal well. soak urad dal for 3 - 4 hrs.
  2. Drain water and keep aside.
  3. In a blender or grinder , grind the urad dal in to a fluffy texture along with salt. 
  4. Don't add water while grinding, just sprinkle water in-between. 
  5. The batter should be thick and fluffy consistency.
  6. Now heat oil in a kadai for deep frying the vada.
  7. You can either make vada shaped or like bonda shaped.
  8. Wet your hands and take lemon sized balls and drop into oil.
  9. You can fry 4 - 5 balls at a time.
  10. Flip around and deep fry till golden brown. drain in tissue paper.
  11. Arrange the vadas in a plate .
  12. Meanwhile take yogurt whisk it well.soak it in the yogurt mixture for 30 mins.Turn over in between.
  13. AT THE TIME OF SERVING : Transfer the vadas to a serving plate.Then pour the yogurt mixture with salt over the vadas.
  14. Drizzle green chutney and sweet chutney.
  15. Then sprinkle sev, red chilly powder, carrot, jeera powder, chaat masala and garnish with coriander leaves.
