Dahi Vada - Curd Vadi North Indian Style

Ingredients :
For Vada :
- Urad dal - 1 /2 cup
- Rice flour - 2 tbsp
- Salt to taste
For Dahi :
- Thick curd - 1 cup
- Green Chutney - 1/4 cup
- Sweet Chaat Chutney - 1/4 cup
- Plain Sev - 1/4 cup
- Onion - 1
- Carrot - 1
- Roasted Jeera powder - 1/2 tsp
- Red chilly powder - 1/2 tsp
- Chaat masala - 1/2 tsp
- Few Coriander leaves
Method :
- Rinse whole urad dal well. soak urad dal for 3 - 4 hrs.
- Drain water and keep aside.
- In a blender or grinder , grind the urad dal in to a fluffy texture along with salt.
- Don't add water while grinding, just sprinkle water in-between.
- The batter should be thick and fluffy consistency.
- Now heat oil in a kadai for deep frying the vada.
- You can either make vada shaped or like bonda shaped.
- Wet your hands and take lemon sized balls and drop into oil.
- You can fry 4 - 5 balls at a time.
- Flip around and deep fry till golden brown. drain in tissue paper.
- Arrange the vadas in a plate .
- Meanwhile take yogurt whisk it well.soak it in the yogurt mixture for 30 mins.Turn over in between.
- AT THE TIME OF SERVING : Transfer the vadas to a serving plate.Then pour the yogurt mixture with salt over the vadas.
- Drizzle green chutney and sweet chutney.
- Then sprinkle sev, red chilly powder, carrot, jeera powder, chaat masala and garnish with coriander leaves.
