Kondakadali Vadai - Black Channa Vadai Recipe

For Grinding :
- Black kondakadalai / chickpeas - 1/2 cup
- Split Bengal gram / kadalai paruppu / Channa dal - 1/2 cup
- Garlic cloves - 5 - 6
- Fennel seeds / sombhu - 1/2 tbsp
- Few curry leaves
Ingredients:
- Soak the kondakalai / black channa overnight.
- Soak the kadalai paruppu for atleast 3 hours.
- Drain the water completely in kondakadalai and kadalai paruppu and take 1 tbsp kadalai paruppu and set aside.
- In a blender, first add the kadalai paruppu, garlic cloves,few curry leaves and grind without adding water coarsely.
- Then add the kondakalai in a blender grind with little water or sprinkle some water coarsely.
- In a mixing bowl, put the grinding mixture and add finely chopped onion, green chilly, soaked channa dal and enough salt.
- Mix everything well.
- Keep a bowl with water and wet both hands.Make equal sized balls for uniform sized vadas.
- Shape each ball to flat patties of medium thickness
- Heat oil in kadai meanwhile.
- Deep fry in hot oil until golden brown in color, flipping once in between.
- Always cook in medium flame for golden color.
- Once vadas cooked remove from the oil.
- Drain in paper towel.
- Enjoy making these healthy vada.
