Kondakadali Masala Vadai - Black Channa Vadai Recipe :

Healthy Kondakadalai vadai...

Kondakadali Vadai - Black Channa Vadai Recipe

For Grinding :

  1. Black kondakadalai / chickpeas - 1/2 cup
  2. Split Bengal gram / kadalai paruppu / Channa dal - 1/2 cup
  3. Garlic cloves - 5 - 6
  4. Fennel seeds / sombhu - 1/2 tbsp
  5. Few curry leaves

Ingredients:

  1. Onion - 1 big 
  2. Green chilly - 2
  3. Soaked channa dal - 1 tbsp
  4. Salt to taste 
  5. Oil for deep frying

Method:

  1. Soak the kondakalai / black channa overnight.
  2. Soak the kadalai paruppu for atleast  3 hours.
  3. Drain the water completely in kondakadalai and kadalai paruppu and take 1 tbsp kadalai paruppu and set aside.
  4. In a blender, first add the kadalai paruppu, garlic cloves,few curry leaves and grind without adding water coarsely.
  5. Then add the kondakalai in a blender grind with little water or sprinkle some water coarsely.
  6. In a mixing bowl, put the grinding mixture and add finely chopped onion, green chilly, soaked channa dal and enough salt.
  7. Mix everything well.
  8. Keep a bowl with water and wet both hands.Make equal sized balls for uniform sized vadas.
  9. Shape each ball to flat patties of medium thickness
  10. Heat oil in kadai meanwhile.
  11. Deep fry in hot oil until golden brown in color, flipping once in between.
  12. Always cook in medium flame for golden color.
  13. Once vadas cooked remove from the oil.
  14. Drain in paper towel.
  15. Enjoy making these healthy vada.
