Black Kondakadalai / Channa Biryani Recipe :

Channa / Kondakadalai biryani is nutritious and a healthy food.....


Ingredients:

  1. Black channa - 2 cups
  2. Potato - 3 Optional 
  3. Onion - 2 Sliced
  4. Tomato - 2 Chopped
  5. Biryani masala - 2 tsp
  6. Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  7. Bay leaf - 2
  8. Oil - 3tsp
  9. Ghee - 1tsp
  10. Salt to taste

To Grind:

  1. Green chilly - 3 to 5
  2. Coriander leaves - 1/2 cup
  3. Mint leaves - 1/2 cup
  4. Ginger - 1 small pc
  5. Garlic - 3 cloves Or Ginger garlic paste - 2 tsp
  6. In a blender grind everything & make a coarse paste


Rice Measurement :

  1. Normal Rice - 1 cup                                                                                                                 Soak the rice for 15 - 20 min add 1 1/2 cup f water for 1 cup of Rice.
     2. Seeraga Samba Rice - 1 cup
         Soak the rice for 5 min , add 1 3/4 cup of water for 1 cup of rice.
   
     3. Basmati Rice - 1 cup
         Soak the rice for 15 min, add 1.5 cups of water for 1 cup of rice.

Method:

  1. Soak the channa overnight. boil with little water in next day & drain it.
  2. Heat oil & ghee in pressure cooker
  3. Add bay leaf & onion saute it well
  4. Then add tomatoes fry it turns mushy & add biryani masala powder
  5. Then add the grind paste saute it well till oil separates
  6. Now add the potato & boiled channa mix it well
  7. Now add 1 1/2cup water for 1 cup rice
  8. Then add rice and salt then mix it well
  9. Cover the pressure cooker and cook it for 2 whistle
