Idly Upma - Left over Idly recipe :

Idly upma is a very simple and delicious dish made with leftover idlis.This is a very common breakfast dish in South India, which can be prepared in no time.You can prepare this upma even if your idlis are hard....

Ingredients :

  1. Left over Idly - 5
  2. Onion - 1 big finely chopped 
  3. Tomato - 1 small finely chopped ( Optional)
  4. Green chilly - 1 finely chopped OR Red chilly - 1
  5. Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  6. Few curry leaves
  7. Few coriander leaves

To Temper:

  1. Oil - 1 tbsp
  2. Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  3. Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
  4. Jeera / Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp

Method :

  1. Crumble the left over idlies coarsely and set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard seeds once its splutter add urad dal, jeera and curry leaves.
  3. Add chopped onions saute it till turn golden.
  4. Now add the green chillies ,chopped tomatoes,turmeric powder and salt. saute for 2 - 3  mins.         (Tomatoes is optional).
  5. Then add the crumbled idlies and mix well to combine.
  6. Finely add the corionder leaves and switch off the flame.
  7. Serve hot.
