Tomato Chutney / Thakkali Chutney - Version : 1

South Indian tomato chutney....Simple and tasty chutney well goes with Idly and dosa...


Ingredients :

  1. Onion - 3 
  2. Tomato - 2
  3. Red chilly - 5 to 6
  4. Tamarind paste - 1/2 tsp
  5. Salt to taste

To temper :

  1. Oil - 1 tbsp
  2. Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  3. Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
  4. Few curry leaves

Method :

  1. Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan, add chopped tomatoes. saute it for till golden brown.
  2. Then add the red chilly, saute it for min.
  3. Add the chopped tomatoes, saute it for 5 to 8 mins.
  4. Finally add the tamarind paste and saute for 30 sec and turn off the flame.
  5. Let's cool down.
  6. In blender, put add the mixture and grind with little water.
  7. Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard seeds , once its splutter add urad dal and curry leaves and turn off the flame.
  8. Mix the tempered items to the chutney and mix it well.
  9. Serve with idly or dosa.

Preparation time : 5 mins
