South Indian Prawn Kuzhambu.....

Prawn Kuzhambu - South Indian Prawn Kuzhambu
Cooking Time : 30 - 40 Mins
Ingredients :
- Prawn- 1/2 kg
- Shallots - 20 - 25
- Tomato - 2
- Coconut - 1/2
- Fennel seeds - 1 tsp
- Kuzhambu milagai Powder - 3 tbsp OR (( Coriander powder - 2 tbsp OR Red Chilly powder - 1 tbsp ))
- Turmeric powder - 1.2 tsp
- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Few curry leaves
- Few coriander leaves
- Salt to taste
Method :
- Clean and wash the prawn and set aside.
- Chop the onions and tomato and set aside.
- Grind coconut and fennel seeds with little water and make a fine paste and set aside.
- Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard seeds once it splutter , add the curry leaves and shallots, saute till slightly brown.
- Now add the chopped tomatoes with some salt, mix it well.
- Cover and cook the tomatoes till it turn mushy.
- Add the kuzhambu milagai powder and turmeric powder, saute it for a min.
- Then add the coconut paste, 2 cups of water and salt. mix it well.
- Lets boil for 10 - 15 mins till raw smell goes.
- Now add the prawns and saute it well.
- Cook until prawns is soft and cooked fully.Once the prawns turn soft, add the chopped coriander leaves and turn off the flame.
- (The curry consistency is purely our preference).
- Serve hot with rice, idly, dosa or chapati.
