South Indian Kuzhi Paniyaram Recipe:

Kuzhi Paniyaram is very popular in a Tamil dish made by steaming batter..Traditionally made from pulses & rice using a mould. The batter used is the same as that for idli or dosa. Kuzhi Panaiyarams can be made sweet or spicy.It is very apt for breakfast especially...lets see step by step pictures....

Kuzhi Paniyaram

Ingredients:

  1. Idly / Dosa Batter   - 2 cups
  2. Shallots                  - 15 to 20 Finely chopped
  3. Ginger                    - 1 small pc Finely chopped
  4. Green chilly             - 2  finely chopped
  5. Grated Carrot           - 1/4 cup (Optional)
  6. Channa dal / Kadallai Paruppu - 3 tsp
  7. Mustard seeds /Urad dal - 1 tsp
  8. Red chilly                     -5 to 8 pc
  9. Oil                               - 3 tsp
  10. Few Curry leaves
  11. Few Coriander leaves

Method:
Take all the Ingredients

Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard seeds, urad dal and channa dal saute it for a min

Then add red chilies 

Then add onions, ginger, green chilies & curry leaves saute it for 2mins

Turn off the flame and add chopped coriander leaves mix it well 

Then add fried Ingredients  to the batter

whisk the batter well beforehand

Heat the Kuzhi Paniyaram Tawa and add oil in each cups and heat it

Pour the mixture in each cups of the kuzhi paniyaram tawa & let the paniyarams cook in medium flame

After the bottom side of paniyaram is cooked turn over the paniyaram's for other side to cook

Once both sides are cooked remove them from paniyaram tawa , serve hot with chutney.
