Mint rice / Pudhina sadam recipe : Version - 1

This is very simple and flavorful rice...Let's see step by step pictures.....


Ingredients :

  1. Mint - 1 cup
  2. Cooked rice - 1 cup
  3. Green chilly - 2 or 3
  4. Tamarind paste - 1 tbsp
  5. Turmeric powder - a pinch
  6. Salt to taste

For  temper :

  1. Oil - 2 tbsp
  2. Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  3. Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
  4. Jeera / Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  5. Few curry leaves

Method :


  1. Wash mint leaves.
  2. In blender, add the mind leaves, green chilies add tamarind paste.
  3. Add little water for grinding and make a puree.
  4. Heat oil in a kadai, add the mustard seeds once its splutter add the urad dal, cumin seeds and curry leaves.
  5. Now add the mint puree, cook for 5 to 7 mins.
  6. Don't cook for more than 7 to 8 mins.
  7. Add the turmeric powder and salt and mix it well.
  8. Slim the flame.
  9. Add the cooked rice into the mint paste and mix it well.
  10. In medium flame , cook the rice for another 2 mins.
  11. Turn off the flame.
  12. Serve hot.
