How to cook perfect basmati rice for biryani......

How to Cook Basmati Rice for Biryani
Cooking Time : 15 - 20 mins
Cuisine : Indian

Ingredients:

  1. Basmati rice - 2 cups
  2. Cloves - 3 
  3. Cinnamon - 1 medium size
  4. Jeera / cumin seeds - 3 tsp 
  5. Green cardamom - 3 
  6. Bay leaf - 1 
  7. Mace - 1 
  8. Star anise - 1
  9. Ghee - 1 tbsp OR Oil - 1 tbsp
  10. Salt to taste
  11. Water - 7 cups

Method :

  1. Soak the basmathi rice with water for 30 mins.
  2. Take water in a heavy bottom pan and bring it to boil in high flame.
  3. Add ghee or oil and whole spices mentioned above and salt.
  4. Now wash the soaked rice in cold water for 2 times.
  5. Then add the soaked rice and stir well.Cook the rice in medium flame.
  6. Allow the rice to cook for 60 %, that means if you hold a grain, it should be hard enough and also it should be mashed when you press.
  7. Because its going to cook again for dum.
  8. Now switch off the flame and drain the water immediately, else rice becomes fluffy.
