Raagi is the common name of finger millet in southern part of India. Along with oats this is one of the most nutritious food & one of the easy one to the digest. It is rich in fiber,calcium & protein and also have good amount of iron and other minerals. Raagi is best for weight loss. Raagi Idly is a very Healthy,tasty & easy breakfast recipe.....

There are 3 Methods for making Raagi Idly:
Ingredients:
- Urad dal - 1/2 cup ( Grind and make a smooth paste)
- Raagi Flour - 1/2 cup
- Salt to taste
- Water - 2cups
Method - I
- Add a cup of raagi flour to the urad dal paste and make batter.
- Add enough salt
- Keep it for at-least 8 hours for fermentation, then make the Idly.
Ingredients:
- Soak whole Raagi grain - 1 cup
- Idly rice - 1 cup
- Urad dhal - 1/4 cup
- Fenugreek seeds - 2 tsp
Method- II
- Grind Raagi and rice to a fine paste.
- Then grind urad dhal and Fenugreek seeds into smooth paste.
- Mix both these & add enough salt and make a batter.
- Keep it for at-least 8 hours for fermentation, then make the Idly.
Method -III :
Take Idly batter 2 cups and Ragi Flour 1 /2 cup |
Fry the raagi flour in low flame for 5 to 7 min |
Cool down the flour |
Mix the flour to the batter and add some salt |
Like this |
Keep aside for in a warm place for 8 hrs |
You can see the fermented batter |
Grease the idly plate |
Take a ladle full of batter, pour in to the idly pan |
Steam it for 15min |
Cool down the Idlies for 3min |
Serve hot with Chutney or sambar |
