Rasam or Chaaru or saaru is a south Indian Soup, which is eaten with rice, traditionally prepared using tamarind juice as a base, with the addition of tomatoes and other spices ad seasoning..
Simple Tomato Rasam |
Ingredients :
- Tomatoes - 3
- Tamarind pulp- 1/4 cup
- Garlic cloves - 4
- Red chilly - 2
- Rasam Powder - 2tsp
- Asafoetida - 1/4tsp
- Mustard seeds - 1/2tsp
- Few curry leaves
- Few corionder leaves
- Salt to Taste
- Oil - 1 tsp
Method:
Take all the Ingredients |
Make a tomato and tamarind into a puree |
Crush the garlic cloves |
Heat oil in a kadai, add the mustard seeds, when its crackle,add the urad dal, garlic, asafoetida and curry leaves |
Add the rasam powder |
Saute it for 30 sec |
Add the tomato and tamarind juice and add 1 cup of water and salt |
Once itsstarts boil |
Turn off the flame and add some coriander leaves |
Serve with plain rice |
