An easy North Indian Flat bread , egg-less naan recipe which can be prepared by your own hands at home with less ingredients...
Ingredients :
- All purpose flour / Maida - 2 cups
- Baking soda - 1/4 tsp
- Baking Powder - 1 tsp
- Curd - 1 cup ( Curd should be in room temperature )
- Ghee - 1 tsp
- All purpose flour / Maida - 2 cups
- Yeast - 1 tsp
- Ghee- 1 tsp
For the topping :
- Garlic - 3 to 5 finely chopped
- Coriander leaves - finely chopped
- Butter - 2 tsp
Yeast Method :
- Luke warm water - 3 /4 cup
- Yeast - 1 tsp
- Sugar - 1 tsp
- Mix everything
- Cover it and keep aside for 15 mins.
Replacing The curd :
- For 2 cups maida
- 1 cup fresh Yogurt / Curd - 1 egg
Correct Measurement :
- Don't add water for making naan.
- The naan dough should be in sticky dough.
- Don't knead a dough in chapati consistency.
Method :
- In a mixing bowl, add all purpose flour / maida, salt, baking soda, baking powder and 1 tsp ghee. mix it well
- Now add the 1 cup fresh curd ( at room temperature) to it. Knead the dough and add more yogurt ( if required) to make a soft and sticky dough.
- Cover the dough and let it rest for about 15 mins inside the oven with the lights on ( DO NOT TURN ON THE OVEN)
- After 15 mins, take out the risen dough, ( smear your palms with the oil to handle the sticky dough), take portions from it and make the balls and place into another bowl.
- Cover and let it rest for another 15 mins in the oven with the lights on.
- OR Cover the dough tightly and keep it aside
- Once the dough rises again, store in the refrigerator if you are not making your naan immediately.
- Take each risen ball of dough, dust it well and roll using the roller pin.
- Fold thrice into a triangle shape and roll again stretching the dough with your hands as much as possible.
- Brush a little oil on the surface of the rolled out dough and spread a little minced garlic on top of it.
- Sprinkle some finely chopped coriander leaves as well.
- Heat the tawa, place the naan on high flame , turn on both sides for 2 times.
- Then keep the flame in high mode, add place the naan on the heat , turn the naan for 3 times on each side.
- OR Cook the naan in tawa itself.
- Serve hot.
