Tomato Thokku - Version : 2

Easy and tasty tomato thokku....

Ingredients:

  1. Tomato - 10
  2. Kuzhambu chilly powder - 1 tbsp
  3. Red chilly powder - 1/2 tsp
  4. Turmeric powder - a pinch
  5. Fennel seeds - 1 tsp
  6. Oil - 1 tbsp
  7. Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
  8. Asafoetida / hing - a pinch
  9. Few curry leaves 
  10. Salt to taste

Method :

  1. Wash and cut the tomatoes into 2 - 4 pieces for grinding. In blender, blend the tomato into semi fine paste.
  2. Heat oil in a kadai, mustard seeds once its splutter add fennel seeds, asofoetida, a pinch of turmeric powder and curry leaves.
  3. Add the tomato puree and increase the flame to medium and cook for 5 - 7 mins.
  4. Now add the red chilly powder, Kuzhambu chilly powder and salt stir it once and allow to boil.
  5. When its start bubbling s keep the flame low and cover the pan with lid , let it cook for 25 - 20 mins to get thokku consistency.
  6. Cook till oil oozes out from the thokku and turn off the flame.
  7. Serve it with Idly, dosa or chapati.
